FREQUENT ASKED QUESTIONS

Permanent Makeup—also called cosmetic tattooing or micropigmentation—is an advanced beauty technique that uses specialized tools to implant pigment into the skin to enhance features such as brows, lips, and eyeliner. Modern permanent makeup techniques are designed to create soft, natural-looking results while simplifying your daily beauty routine.

Popular brow techniques include Nano Brows, which create ultra-fine hair-like strokes; Ombré Powder Brows, which provide a soft shaded makeup effect; Nano Hair Stroke Brows for natural dimension and texture; and Combination Brows, which blend hair strokes with soft shading for added fullness and definition.

These modern PMU techniques are customizable for different skin types, lifestyles, and beauty goals, offering longer-lasting, low-maintenance enhancements that heal naturally and help clients look polished and confident every day.

Microblading was one of the earliest popular semi-permanent brow techniques and can still work well for certain clients. However, modern techniques such as Ombré Powder Brows, Nano Brows, and Nano Hair Stroke Brows are now widely preferred in the PMU industry because they generally provide softer healed results, better retention, and greater versatility across different skin types.

Compared to traditional Microblading, powder and nano techniques often offer:

  • Better longevity and color retention
  • Softer, more natural healed appearance
  • Less trauma to the skin
  • Better suitability for oily, mature, or sensitive skin
  • More flexibility to create both natural and softly defined looks
  • More even fading over time

Because of these advantages, many modern PMU artists and clients now prefer Ombré Powder Brows, Nano Brows, and Nano Hair Stroke techniques for natural-looking results that age more gracefully and typically require less maintenance over time.

When you book a permanent makeup service with us, your cost includes a full care package from start to finish:

  • A consultation to discuss your goals, assess your features, and determine the best technique for your desired look. We evaluate brow/ lip/ eye shape, skin tone, and lifestyle to tailor the results.

  • A custom design and mapping session — we shape and plan the treatment specifically for your facial structure.

  • The main PMU procedure (brows, lips, or eyeliner) — with premium pigments and sterile, single-use tools for safety and hygiene.

  • A follow-up/perfecting session (4–6 weeks after initial treatment) to refine shape and color, correct any pigment retention issues, and ensure the healed result looks flawless.

Permanent makeup isn’t a “one-and-done” service — we plan for two sessions to ensure lasting, natural, and beautiful results. Here’s why:

  • Pigment settles over time. After the initial session, your skin needs time to heal and integrate the pigment. During healing, some pigment may fade or shift. The touch-up, typically 4–6 weeks later, allows us to assess how the pigment settled and make precise adjustments if needed.

  • Perfect shape and color. Initial pigment may appear darker or uneven. Once healed, we can refine shape, deepen or soften color, and correct minor asymmetries to match your desired look.

  • Ensure longevity and even healing. Skin reacts differently; a second session helps seal pigment properly, improving retention and ensuring your brows, lips, or eyeliner heal evenly and beautifully.

  • Opportunity to address unexpected results. If certain areas didn’t hold pigment well or healed lighter, the touch-up lets us fill gaps or correct tone for a polished final result.

Think of the second session as finishing touches — it ensures what you see on day one becomes what you continue to love for months (or years) after.

After your included initial touch-up (about 4–6 weeks post-treatment), your permanent makeup will gradually fade over time due to natural skin exfoliation, sun exposure, and lifestyle factors.

  • Typical timeframe for a refresh: Most clients benefit from a maintenance touch-up every 12–24 months to keep brows, lip color, or eyeliner looking fresh, defined, and vibrant.

  • Why timing varies: Pigment retention depends on skin type (e.g. oily skin may fade faster), aftercare habits, sun exposure, skincare products, and overall lifestyle.

  • How to know when you need a touch-up: If your brows, lips, or eyeliner begin to look faded, uneven, or less defined — that’s a good indicator it’s time to schedule a refresh.

Think of maintenance touch-ups as periodic “beauty upkeep” — just like refreshing hair color or a manicure. With proper care and occasional refreshes, your results can stay beautiful and natural for years.

When performed by a skilled technician in a sterile environment, PMU is generally safe. Numbing creams are applied to minimize discomfort, and most clients report only mild sensations during the procedure.

A PMU session lasts approximately 2.5 - 3.5 hours—please manage your schedule accordingly

The longevity of your results depends on the treatment type, your skin type, and lifestyle factors such as sun exposure and skincare routines:

Regular touch-ups are recommended to maintain optimal color and shape. For specific aftercare tips and long-term maintenance advice, visit each service page for details.

Healing times vary by service:

  • Ombré Brows / Nano Stroke Shading: Mild redness and light scabbing may occur in the first few days. Brows will appear darker initially, then lighten as the skin heals. Full color settles within 4–6 weeks.
  • Lip Blushing: Lips may feel swollen for 1–2 days, followed by light peeling over the first week. Color will appear softer at first, then “bloom” and intensify over 4–6 weeks.
  • Eyeliner: Mild redness, puffiness, and light scabbing may occur. The pigment will soften and stabilize over 4–6 weeks.

For best results, follow the aftercare instructions provided after your appointment. Full healing times vary by skin type and lifestyle, and a touch-up is typically recommended at 4–8 weeks to perfect the result.

Yes. A complimentary touch-up is included with your initial treatment to refine color and perfect the shape:

Following these steps closely will help your PMU heal evenly, retain color, and stay fresh for years to come.

If you’ve ever had cold sores, lip tattooing can cause a recurrence. This is completely normal but may affect healing and pigment retention. To reduce the chance of an outbreak, we advise you to ask your doctor about taking an antiviral medication prior to your procedure.

If you are experiencing an active herpes outbreak or cold sores on your lips before your scheduled appointment, we strongly recommend rescheduling. Please wait until your lips are fully healed before receiving lip blushing to ensure the best results and protect your skin.
